Hoi An Memories Show – An Effortless Way to Experience Hoi An at Night

hoian-danang

Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage town, is known for its yellow-walled streets, glowing lanterns, and romantic riverside scenery.
It’s the kind of place many travelers dream of visiting at least once in their lifetime.

That said, after a few days of walking through the Old Town—especially under the strong sun and through crowded streets—you may find yourself thinking:

“It’s beautiful, but I’m honestly getting a bit tired.”

Hoi An is charming, but it can also be physically demanding.
That’s why I was looking for a way to enjoy the atmosphere of Hoi An without spending another evening walking endlessly.

That’s when I discovered Hoi An Impression Theme Park, home to the spectacular Hoi An Memories Show.

What Is the Hoi An Memories Show?

The Hoi An Memories Show is one of the world’s largest outdoor stage performances, held on Cam Nam Island (Cồn Hến), just south of Hoi An Ancient Town.

The venue itself—Hoi An Impression Theme Park (also called Hoi An Memories Land)—is designed as a walkable cultural space.

Inside the park, you’ll find:

  • Traditional architecture inspired by old Hoi An
  • Lantern-lit streets and photogenic corners
  • Mini performances before the main show
  • Restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops

Before the show begins, you can stroll at a relaxed pace, enjoy small performances, or simply take photos as the park gradually lights up.

At 8:00 PM, the main event starts: a breathtaking 60-minute performance featuring more than 500 performers, combining music, light, water effects, and large-scale stage design to tell the story of Hoi An’s history and culture.

What Is the Story Behind the Show?

The Hoi An Memories Show is more than just entertainment.
It tells the story of Hoi An’s past, spanning nearly 400 years, from the Champa era in the 14th century to the 17th century, when the town flourished as a major trading port.

The performance is structured into five short acts, each representing a different phase in Hoi An’s history.
Rather than focusing on detailed historical explanations, the story unfolds through movement, music, light, and large-scale visual effects.

  • LIFE – The beginning of a new era in Hoi An
  • The Wedding – The historic marriage of Princess Huyen Tran and King Che Man
  • Ships and Sea – Men facing storms at sea in pursuit of prosperity
  • The Shore – Hoi An’s rise as a vibrant international trading port
  • The Ao Dai – A timeless symbol of Vietnamese beauty and identity

Because the show relies on visual storytelling rather than dialogue, it’s easy to follow even without prior knowledge of Vietnamese history, making it accessible to visitors of all backgrounds.

Opening Hours

Park Hours: 4:00 PM – around 10:00 PM
Show Time: 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM (approx. 60 minutes)

The show usually goes on even in light rain (ponchos are provided).

Best time to enter: around 5:00–6:00 PM
This timing allows you to enjoy sunset light for photos, explore the park without rushing, and have dinner before the show.

How to Get There

The easiest way is by Grab (ride-hailing app).

Search for “Hoi An Impression Theme Park”, but make sure to set the drop-off point at the Moonlight Bridge entrance.
If you’re dropped off on the opposite side of the river, you may end up walking a long detour—or paying double fare.

The Moonlight Bridge itself is beautifully illuminated at night and is one of the best photo spots before the show.
With a valid show ticket, crossing the bridge is free.

Ticket Types & Prices

ECO600,000 VND300,000 VNDBest value

💡 Children under 1m enter free.

💡 ECO seats are sometimes discounted online (around 540,000 VND via Klook).

I booked the HIGH seat, which offered a well-balanced view of the entire stage.
If you want a clear, centered perspective without being too far back, HIGH seats are a solid choice.

During the rainy season—or if you’re traveling with children—the VIP seats are worth considering.
They come with a roof and table service, making the experience noticeably more comfortable and stress-free.

How to Buy Tickets

Option 1: Online booking (Klook or Official Website)

  • Klook: Often cheaper, but seat options are limited
  • Official site: More ticket combinations , usually full price

Option 2: Local tour companies

Some local agencies sell combo packages with dinner or other activities included.

If your schedule is fixed and the weather looks good, online booking via Klook is usually the most convenient and cost-effective option.

Where to Eat

Inside the park, you’ll find casual restaurants and cafés designed for easy access.

The most popular is Nón Lá Restaurant, known for its bamboo architecture and buffet-style meals.
The food focuses more on variety and convenience than gourmet quality.

If you prefer a more refined dining experience, I recommend having dinner at a riverside restaurant near the Old Town before entering the park.
Lantern reflections on the water create a beautiful, atmospheric setting.

Best Photo Spots

Vietnam Village: Rustic countryside houses made of bamboo and thatch

Japanese Village: Wooden houses, torii gates, and playful details

Chinese Village: Red lanterns and nostalgic alleyways inspired by southern China

Moonlight Bridge: The ultimate spot for sunset and night photos.

My Experience

Honestly, this was one of the highlights of our stay in Hoi An.

The show is visually powerful and constantly evolving, with fast-paced transitions and large-scale stage design.
Because it relies heavily on movement, music, and visual storytelling, it’s easy to stay immersed regardless of age or language.

What impressed me most was how effortless the experience felt.
Instead of walking for hours through crowded streets, we were able to sit, relax, and absorb the essence of Hoi An in a single evening.

If you’re feeling a bit tired of sightseeing but still want to experience Hoi An’s atmosphere, this is an excellent alternative.
A night of light, music, and storytelling—without overexerting yourself.
